Our Current Projects
Sweet Peas Educational Farm
Sweet Peas Educational Farm will be a strong voice in our community to expose children and adults to a healthier lifestyle. Our goal is to purchase 20 acres to create a living classroom for our community! By doing so, our mission is to create a stronger connection between people and their food. We feel that people must be given the opportunity to participate in authentic and sustainable agricultural experiences. The farm will be a community partner on the front lines of the local effort to reduce adult and child obesity, promote positive change and increase the number of people in Citrus County and beyond that are committed to eating healthier and having a more physically active lifestyle.
Sweet Peas Educational Farm will operate an educational farm with a “menu” of services to show children and adults how to plan and prepare healthy, affordable meals, plant, grow and harvest fruits and vegetables and become more physically active. The farm will also include a community garden area for families to share in the farming experience by growing their own vegetables. A CSA “Community Supported Agriculture” program involving a “farm share” program will provide a way for consumers to buy local, seasonal produce directly from the farm.
Sweet Peas Educational Farm is pursuing community partnerships with schools and colleges, county government, elected leaders, non-profits with health improvement and health education related missions and business groups and faith based organizations.
Our Current Events
Food Revolution Day
May 19, 2017
Food Generation will be partnering with Citrus High School to celebrate Food Revolution Day on May 19th! This is a global day of action to keep healthy cooking skills alive and to raise awareness of how much sugar is hidden in our processed foods. This event was originally inspired by Jamie Oliver’s Food Foundation in the UK and the USA. To date, 74 countries have taken part and over 900 Ambassadors are championing our cause worldwide!
It’s time to celebrate the importance of cooking healthy, whole foods from scratch and raising awareness of how it impacts our health and happiness. It’s about educating, inspiring and empowering our youth to make healthier food choices and creating skills that will last a lifetime!
As a Certified Holistic Health and Wellness Coach, I am honored to be an Ambassador for Food Revolution in the State of Florida. Let’s get healthy Citrus County!
